Costere
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
is a mediaeval term for the side-hangings which, suspended on rods, anciently enclosed the altar, or, stretched upon frames, stood at either end, to protect the lighted tapers from draughts.
