a Presbyterian minister, was born in Prussia, June 24, 1817. His parents emigrated to the United States in 1829, and settled near Columbia, Pennsylvania. He was educated in Lafayette College, Easton, and Hampden-Sidney College, Virginia. About 1847 he completed his studies, was licensed by the Allegheny Presbytery, and preached at Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania.
