Cleaver, William (1), D.D.,
an English prelate, was born in 1742. He was educated at the University of Oxford; became prebendary of Westminster in 1784; principal of Brazenose College in 1785; bishop of Chester in 1787, was translated: to Bangor in 1800; to St. Asaph in 1806 and died May 15,1815. Bishop Cleaver was able Greek scholar and an orthodox divine.
