Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a Baptist minister, was born in Wilkes County, N.C., Oct. 1, 1781. He united with the Church in 1803, and not long after was ordained. From 1813, to 1818 he preached in Knox County, Tenn. In 1821 he removed to Monroe County, aid there labored successfully for thirty-eight years, building sup a great many churches, and being instrumental in the conversion of many persons., He was pastor, gratuitously, for several years of the Sweetwater Church, which, under his ministry; greatly increased in strength.
