Candidus (Blanckart), Alexander,

a Belgian theologian and Carmelite, was born in Gaul, and lived in the middle of the 16th century. He was made a licentiate in theology at Cologne, and afterwards became chaplain of George D'Egmont, bishop of Utrecht, to whom he dedicated a Flemish version of the Bible (Cologne,. 1547), which is highly esteemed.
