When, on Chrysostom's first deposition, Eudoxia's fears had been aroused by the earthquake, Brison was one of the messengers sent to discover the archbishop's place of retreat. He found him and brought him back. On his arrival at Cucusus, Chrysostom wrote to Brison, giving an account of his journey and its miseries.
