Bridan, Charles Antoine

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a distinguished French sculptor, was born at Rivibre, in Burgundy, in 1730. When about twenty-three years of age he went to Rome, and studied there three years. In 1764 he returned to Paris, and presented to the Academy his marble group of the Martyrdom of St. Bartholomew. He was elected an academician in 1772. He died in Paris, April 28, 1805.
