Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(בֵּית הִמַּדְרָשׁ, house of exposition), is the name given by the Jews to those of their schools in which the oral law or rabbinical traditions were explained. SEE MIDRASH; SEE RABBINISM.
