Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
(Heb. Beyth-Azma'veth, עִזְמָוֶתבֵּיתאּ, house of Azmaveth; Sept. Βαιθασμώθ v.r. Βήθ ), a village of Benjamin, the inhabitants of which, to the number of forty-two, returned with Zerubbabel from Babylon (Nehemiah 7:28). In Nehemiah 12:29; Ezra 2:24, it is called simply AZMAVETH (See AZMAVETH) (q.v.).
