Berckelmann, Theodor

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a Lutheran theologian of Germany, was born Nov. 9, 1576, at Neustadt, in the principality of Calenberg. He studied at Helmstadt, and in 1609 was professor of theology there; in 1616 he was made doctor of theology; in 1625 abbot at Amelunxborn; and in 1630 general superintendent of Goittingen, where he died, July 30, 1645.
