Bean, Joseph

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a Congregational minister, was born in Boston, March 7, 1718. In 1741, under the preaching of Whitefield and Tennant, he became a Christian. Abandoning his calling as a trader, he devoted himself to preparatory studies, and at length graduated at Harvard College in 1748. He was ordained the third minister of Wrentham, Mass., Nov. 24, 1750, and remained pastor of the Church for more than thirty years. He died Dec. 12, 1784. See Panophit, 5, 481-488; Allen, Amer.
