Bassi, Francesco

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a Bolognese painter, was born in 1664, and studied under Pasinelli. He had some fine works in the public edifices in Bologna, the best of which is a picture of St. Antony Taken Up to Heaven by Angels. He was a distinguished copyist and imitator of Guercino.
