an English Wesleyan minister, was born near Castleton, Yorkshire, in 1785. The greater part of his youth was spent at Farndale. He was moral from boyhood. He entered the ministry in 1811; retired from its active - duties in 1859; settled at Whitby; and died in that city Oct. 8, 1863.: Ash delighted in open-air preaching, and he frequently addressed crowds in this way. He was a diligent student of the Bible; and he read it through, consecutively, one hundred and twenty times.
