Annan, John Ebenezer

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a Presbyterian minister, was born at Baltimore, Md., about 1803. He prepared for college in the Classical School at Gettysburg, Pa., and graduated at Dickinson College in 1824. On his graduation, he was chosen professor of mathematics in Miami University, Oxford, O.; but remained there only a few years, when he entered Princeton Theological Seminary, and after attending one session, was licensed May 16, 1829. He labored for a few months as a missionary in Ohio, and was ordained as an evangelist at Baltimore in December of the same year. He was installed as pastor of the Presbyterian Church at Petersburg, Va., July 10, 1830; but was stricken down with a fever, and died Aug. 10 of the same year. See Sprague, Annals of the Amer.
