Alexander of (St.) Elpidius

Alexander Of (St.) Elpidius,
in Italy, near Rome, was general of the order of Augustinian hermits in 1312, and in 1325 was made archbishop of Ravenna. The time of his death is uncertain. He wrote a treatise on The Imperial Jurisdiction and the Authority of the Roman Pontiff, by order of pope John XXII (Lyons. 1498, in 2 books; Rimini, 1624): — also two other works. See Cave, Hist.
