Aeruascatores
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
a name given to the priests of Cybele among the Romans because they begged alms in' the public streets. The word came to be applied to fortune- tellers generally, or vagrants like the modern gypsies.
