Meganucleus
1911 Encyclopedia Britannica
(also called Macronucleus), in Infusoria., the large nucleus which undergoes direct (amitotic) division in fission, and is lost during conjugation, to be replaced by a nucleus, the result of the karyogamy of the micronuclei.
