Webster's Dictionary

(n.) A chemist, esp. one devoted to alchemistic pursuits.

(2):

(n.) One of a sect which arose in the days of alchemy, who sought to discover remedies for disease by chemical means. The spagyrists historically preceded the iatrochemists.
