(a.) Resembling the butterfly.

(a.) Belonging to that suborder of leguminous plants (Papilionaceae) which includes the bean, pea, vetch, clover, and locust.
(3):
(a.) Having a winged corolla somewhat resembling a butterfly, as in the blossoms of the bean and pea.
