(n.) A sexual zooid produced as a medusoid bud upon a hydroid, sometimes becoming a free hydromedusa, sometimes remaining attached. See Hydroidea, and Illusts. of Athecata, Campanularian, and Gonosome.

(n.) A lengthened receptacle, bearing the stamens and carpels in a conspicuous manner.
