Webster's Dictionary

(a. & adv.) Slow; slowly, leisurely, and gracefully. When repeated, adagio, adagio, it directs the movement to be very slow.

(2):

(n.) A piece of music in adagio time; a slow movement; as, an adagio of Haydn.
