Vine's Expository Dictionary of NT Words

1: ἀλάβαστρον

(Strong's #211 — Noun Neuter — alabastron — al-ab'-as-tron )

was a vessel for holding ointment or perfume; it derived its name from the alabaster stone, of which it was usually made. "Cruse," RV, is a more suitable rendering than "box;" Matthew 26:7; Mark 14:3; Luke 7:37 .
