Ger'shonites, The. The family descended from Gershon or Gershom, the son of Levi. "The Gershonite", as applied to individuals, occurs in 1 Chronicles 26:21. The sons of Gershon (the Gershonites) had charge of the fabrics of the Tabernacle - the coverings, curtains, hangings and cords. Numbers 3:25-26; Numbers 4:25-26.
