Tadeusz Kosciuszko
1910 New Catholic Dictionary
Born Lithuania, Poland, 1752; died Solothurn, Switzerland, 1817. Having served in Washington's army during the American Revolution, he was made brigadier-general and was voted the thanks of Congress. He headed the revolution of Poland in 1794, was captured by the Russians, who imprisoned him for two years, and was finally liberated by Emperor Paul.
