Leclercq, Henri

1910 New Catholic Dictionary

(1869-1929) Writer, historian. He was educated at Notre Dame College, Tournai, Belgium, became a French citizen, 1888, and was a sub-lieutenant in the French army, 1893. Entering the Benedictine Order, he was ordained, 1898; and was stationed at Saint Michael's Abbey, Farnborough; England, and the Italian Hospital, Queen's Square, London. He was a contributor to the Catholic Encyclopedia, and the author of many works, including Monumenta Ecclesire liturgica, Les Martyrs, L' Afrique chretienne, Manuel d'archeologie chretienne, and Histoire des Conciles.
