Established June 4, 1886 vicariate apostolic of Kimberley, Cape Province, Union of South Africa, and entrusted to the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. Name changed to the Vicariate Apostolic of Kimberley nell'Africa Meridionale in 1918. Elevated to the diocese of Kimberley on January 11, 1951. Suffragen of the archdiocese of Bloemfontein. See also:
