Jacques Crétineau-Joly
1910 New Catholic Dictionary
Journalist and historian, born Fontenay-le-Comte, 1803, France; died Vincennes, 1875. As a polemical journalist he vigorously opposed Liberalism, and supported the Legitimist cause. He wrote several historical treatises on the wars of La Vendee, but outside of France is best known for his histories of the Jesuits, and of the Church and the Revolution.
