Hobart, Australia, Archdiocese of
1910 New Catholic Dictionary
Comprises the Island of Tasmania, Bruni Island, and the Islands in Bass Straits. Established as a diocese on April 22, 1842, elevated to an archdiocese on August 3, 1888. Fathers Philip Connolly, Cotham, and John Therry carried on missionary work in the 19th century.
