General Absolution

1910 New Catholic Dictionary

Given simultaneously without a confession of sin, where such confession is practically impossible, for instance, in the case of soldiers about to advance under fire, or in case of sudden disaster; there remains, however, an obligation on the part of the persons so absolved to mention their sins when they next make confession.
