1910 New Catholic Dictionary

Novelist, born Staningfield, England, 1753; died Kensington, England, 1821. She married an actor, and had some success both on the stage, and as a playwright. She acquired more fame, however, by her often reprinted novel, "A Simple Story," one of the first English novels of passion.
