Comprises the counties of Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands and Worcestershire. Founded as the Vicariate Apostolic of Midland District on January 30, 1688. In 1840 the name was changed to the Vicariate Apostolic of Central District. Elevated to the diocese of Birmingham on September 29, 1850. Elevated to an archdiocese on October 28, 1911.
