Martyr (c.79), first Bishop of Ravenna, born probably Antioch; died Ravenna, Italy. According to his Acts he was a disciple of Saint Peter, by whom he was raised to the See of Ravenna. He suffered almost constant persecution, but persisted in preaching. Banished from Ravenna with the other Christians, by a decree of Vespasian, he was discovered while passing through the gates, tortured, and put to death. Emblem: sword. Relics at Ravenna.
