Morrish Bible Dictionary
A stratagem used in war of placing warriors in secret places, from which they can issue forth when least expected. Palestine with its many ravines and caves was well suited for such tactics. Joshua 8:2-22; 2 Chronicles 13:13; 2 Chronicles 20:22; Jeremiah 51:12 .
