Tob
Holman Bible Dictionary
(tahb) Place name meaning, “good.” Syrian city in southern Hauran to which Jephthah fled from his brothers (Judges 11:3-5 ). Tob contributed troops to an unsuccessful alliance against David (2 Samuel 10:6-13 ). Tob is perhaps identical with Tabeel (Isaiah 7:6 ). The site is perhaps et-Taiyibeh about twelve miles east of Ramoth-gilead near the source of the Yarmuk River.
