Sinim

Holman Bible Dictionary

(ssi' nihm) Land from which God promised to gather the Babylonian Exiles (Isaiah 49:12 ). Traditionally translated as China and treated variously by early translators as Persia or the south, the term received clarification from an Isaiah manuscript among the Dead Sea Scrolls, which reads, “Syenites,” a reference to modern Aswan (compare NIV, REB, NRSV). See Syene.
