Sihon
Holman Bible Dictionary
(ssi' hahn) Amorite personal name of unknown meaning. Amorite king whose capital was Heshbon (Deuteronomy 2:26 ). He opposed Israel's passage through his country as they journeyed toward the Promised Land (Numbers 21:23 ). Although he allied with Og, king of Bashan, neither could withstand the Hebrew migration. The tribes of Reuben and Gad settled in the area formerly held by Sihon, just east of the Jordan River.
