Kettle

Holman Bible Dictionary

The translation of a Hebrew word for a vessel in which meat was prepared by the worshipers before being offered as a peace offering to God (1 Samuel 2:14 ). Hophni and Phinehas were not content with the priest's portion (1 Samuel 2:12-17; Leviticus 7:14 ). They also reached into the worshipers' kettle with a fork to add to what was rightfully theirs. See Hophni and Phinehas; Sacrifice and Offering .
