Kenaz
Holman Bible Dictionary
(kee' naz) Personal name of unknown meaning. 1. Son of Eliphaz and grandson of Esau, he was a clan chieftain of the Edomites (Genesis 35:11 ,Genesis 35:11,35:15 ). 2 . The father of Othniel, Israel's first-mentioned judge (Joshua 15:17; Judges 1:3 ) and a brother to Caleb; also was the father of Seriah (1 Chronicles 4:13 ). 3 . A grandson of Caleb and son of Elah (1 Chronicles 4:15 ). The Kenizzites are thought to be the people of Kenaz. They were a nomadic people from the southeast who inhabited Hebron, Debir, and parts of the Negev See Kenizzites.
