Holman Bible Dictionary

(jan' uh dab) Short form of personal name Jehonadab meaning, “Yah proves himself to be generous.” 1. David's nephew who counseled Ammon how to take advantage of Tamar (2 Samuel 13:1 ). Jonadab also advised the sorrowing David that of his sons only Ammon was dead (2 Samuel 13:32-33 ). 2 . Form used at times for Jehonadab in Jeremiah 35:1 . See Jehonadab .
