Holman Bible Dictionary
(joy uh rihb) Short form of Jehoiarib meaning, “Yah establishes justice.” See Ezra 8:16 ). Many interpreters think Joiarib is a copyist's duplication of Jarib earlier in the verse. See Nehemiah 11:5 ). 3 . Father of priest who lived in Jerusalem after the Exile (Nehemiah 11:10 ). 4 . Priest who returned to Jerusalem from Babylonian Exile about 537 B.C. with Zerubbabel (Nehemiah 12:6 ). 5 . Leading priestly family after return from Exile (Nehemiah 12:19 ).
