Holman Bible Dictionary
Black and grey bird (Corvus monedula ) related to but smaller than the common crow (Isaiah 34:11; Zephaniah 2:14 , NAS margin). The meaning of the Hebrew term is obscure. Other identifications include: cormorant; hawk; a species of owl; pelican; or wild bird. See Birds .
