Holman Bible Dictionary
(ihm' muhr) Personal name probably meaning, “lamb.” 1. Father of Pashur, the priest and Temple administrator (Jeremiah 20:1 ). 2 . A priest whose son Zadok helped Nehemiah repair Jerusalem's walls (Nehemiah 3:29 ). Ancestor of priests who dwelt in Jerusalem after the return from Exile (1 Chronicles 9:12 ). 3 . Leader of priestly division under David (1 Chronicles 24:14 ). Son of Immer in other instances could mean, “descendant of Immer” and refer to this original priestly ancestor. Compare Ezra 2:37-38; Ezra 10:20; Nehemiah 7:40; Nehemiah 11:13 .
