Hyacinth
Holman Bible Dictionary
A stone regarded as precious in ancient times. The hyacinth is sometimes identified with the sapphire (Revelation 9:17 NRSV, TEV) or turquoise ( Exodus 28:19; Revelation 9:17; Revelation 21:20 REB; Exodus 28:19; Revelation 21:20 TEV). Others identify the hyacinth with zircon, a brown to greyish gem, or essonite, a yellow to brown garnet.
