Highway
Holman Bible Dictionary
A road, especially an elevated road (Isaiah 62:10 ). In addition to literal uses, there are figurative uses, especially in Isaiah. In Proverbs 15:19 the highway of the righteous is an image for their way of conduct. The highway of Isaiah 11:16 and Isaiah 35:10 is an assurance that the exiles will have safe and speedy passage home. Isaiah 40:3 speaks of preparing a highway for the Lord.
