Gamad
Holman Bible Dictionary
(gay' mad) (NRSV, TEV) or GAMMAD (NIV, REB) Place name of uncertain meaning in Ezekiel 27:11 . The early translations apparently read slightly a different Hebrew text with letters easily confused with those of Gamad and meaning, “watchers.” Others interpreted it as “dwarf” or “pygmies.” Others have pointed to a people called Kumudi from northern Syria listed in early Egyptian sources. They were apparently allies of Tyre in its fight against Babylon. See Gammadim(s).
