Denarius
Holman Bible Dictionary
(de nar' i uhss) A coin representing a typical day's wage for an ordinary laborer (Matthew 20:2 ). The King James Version translates it “penny.” This unit of Roman currency is the most frequently mentioned coin in the New Testament. See Coins; Economic Life .
