Holman Bible Dictionary
(chihl' ih uhn) Personal name meaning, “sickly.” One of the two sons of Elimelech and Naomi (Ruth 1:2 ). With his parents, he emigrated to Moab, where he married a Moabite woman named Orpah. Afterwards, he died in Moab. See Ruth .
