Broad Place
Holman Bible Dictionary
To be set in a broad place (Job 36:16 ) is to be delivered from danger, anxiety, want, or distress. The phrase is also translated as “large place” (2 Samuel 22:20; Psalm 18:19; Psalm 118:5; Hosea 4:16 ) and “large room” (Psalm 31:8 ). Related is the phrase applied to Canaan, “large land” which would appear to denote Canaan—the Promised Land—as a place of deliverance (Judges 18:10; but see Isaiah 22:18 ).
