Holman Bible Dictionary
(ay' teer) Personal name meaning either, “crippled” or “left-handed.” Clan of which 98 returned from Babylonian Exile with Zerubbabel about 537 B.C. (Ezra 2:16 ). They were Temple gatekeepers (Ezra 2:42 ). The head of the clan signed Nehemiah's covenant to keep God's Law (Nehemiah 10:17 ).
