Achaia

Holman Bible Dictionary

(uh chay' iuh) The Roman province in which Gallio was deputy, or proconsul, in the time of Paul the apostle (Acts 18:12 ). It consisted roughly of the southern half of ancient Greece, including the Peloponnesus. Major cities in Achaia included Sparta, Athens, and Corinth, which was the administrative center. Paul preached successfully in the province (Acts 18:27-28 ).
